The Master Mechanic's Tool Protector
Program
Loyd Keith Friedlander Partners provides insurance for hundreds of repair shops, service stations and automotive facilities.
through our GarageGuys
subsidiary.
A few years back, we realized that, although we were providing insurance for the interest of the facility owner, the
mechanics were often using their own tools and weren't properly covered under the owner's policy. Most (if not all) garage insurance
policies do not provide specific coverage for the tools of the people who work there!
If you are using your own tools and you are not the owner of the facility, you almost certainly have inadequate insurance. You may
have no coverage at all, and if you were thinking that your professional tools are covered by your Homeowner policy − forget it, they're
not.
The MASTER MECHANIC'S TOOL PROTECTOR POLICY provides comprehensive coverage to mechanics on either an individual (you alone)
or facility (all the mechanics who work at your location) basis.
- Special Form Coverage (includes theft, fire etc.)
- $500 Deductible
- Coverage of $10,000 per mechanic for unscheduled
tools up to $1,500 in value
- Coverage available for tools in excess of $10,000 total or greater than $1,500 per item
- 24-hour/7-day claims and customer
service
- Coverage can be added for facility-owned testing equipment including dynamometers and lifts
- Annual premium
as low as $750.

Frequently-Asked Questions
Can this policy cover an individual mechanic?
Yes, the policy covers individual mechanics automatically. Coverage can also be purchased for a single mechanic if desired.
How long does it take to get a policy? Once your application is accepted and payment is received, the policy is issued and
sent directly to the named insured.
How are claims handled? All claims are adjusted by the Hartford Fire Insurance Company, one of America 's oldest and most
respected insurance companies.
In the event of a loss, what proofs will we need in order to collect? For all items covered under the policy you need to
retain a receipt showing ownership. For items under $1,500, we suggest that you photograph or videotape your tool box and drawers in order
to refresh your memory in the event of a claim. For items over $1,500, it is also useful to retain a photo or video which clearly shows the
tool and the serial number.
